  • Casuals is a football subculture that developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the United Kingdom, and is typified by hooliganism and the wearing of expensive European - and especially Italian - designer clothing. The subculture originated when many hooligans started wearing designer labels and expensive sportswear in order to avoid the attention of police. They didn't wear club colours, so it was easier to infiltrate rival groups and to enter pubs.
